For three years, the kingdom watched its prince reject every potential bride. No matter how beautiful, wealthy, or well-educated they were, each young woman faced the same mysterious test—a towering wooden frame in the center of the throne room. Then, on one unforgettable day, a woman everyone mocked stepped inside the frame, and what happened next changed the kingdom forever.
For three years, the king repeated the same request to his son.
“You are the future of this kingdom. Our people need a queen. You cannot postpone marriage forever.”
But the prince never changed his answer.
“I will marry only when I find someone I truly love—not simply because tradition demands it.”
The king grew more concerned as the years passed.
Princesses from neighboring kingdoms arrived with impressive family names.
Daughters of wealthy nobles dreamed of becoming part of the royal family.
Yet every proposal ended the same way.
The prince politely declined.
Finally, he announced an unusual challenge.
Once each year, the palace welcomed the kingdom’s most accomplished young women. Before receiving an invitation, each candidate passed months of careful evaluation. Their education, manners, health, etiquette, confidence, posture, and even the way they carried themselves were examined in extraordinary detail.
But none of those qualities seemed to matter once they entered the throne room.
Standing in the center was an enormous wooden frame shaped like the outline of a human body.
No one understood why it was there.
Only the prince knew its true purpose.
Every contestant was instructed to step inside the frame and remain still for several moments.
The prince would quietly observe.
Then, without explanation, he always gave the same response.
“Next.”
Year after year, the strange ceremony continued.
Hundreds of hopeful young women completed the test.
Not one of them became the future queen.
Soon, people across the kingdom began joking that the prince would never marry.
Then another selection day arrived.
The palace filled once again with elegant young women dressed in magnificent gowns, each hoping to succeed where everyone else had failed.
They smiled politely, exchanged compliments, and carefully hid their nervousness.
Suddenly, the great doors opened.
A young woman entered wearing a simple yet graceful dress.
She looked different from the others.
Her figure was fuller than what the royal court usually admired, but she carried herself with quiet confidence.
Almost immediately, whispers spread across the room.
“Is she really here to compete?”
“She must be in the wrong place.”
“Does she honestly think the prince will choose her?”
Soft laughter echoed through the hall.
Even a few courtiers struggled to hide their amusement.
The young woman heard every word.
Yet she never responded.
She simply continued walking with calm dignity.
When her turn finally arrived, the master of ceremonies hesitated.
“My lady…” he began carefully. “The frame may be too narrow. Perhaps we should—”
Before he could finish, the prince raised his hand.
“No.”
“Let her continue.”
The entire throne room fell silent.
The young woman stepped toward the wooden frame.
She took a slow breath…
And quietly stepped inside.
A moment later…
Everything changed.
